Work involves a variety of operational, laboratory, and maintenance duties designed to produce safe and adequate supply of properly treated water; installing, maintaining, and repairing water distribution lines and fixtures; assisting with plant and facilities maintenance; and maintaining accurate records of work activities. Employee is subject to hazards associated with treatment plant and distribution operations including working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme hot and cold weather, and exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation. Will require weekend and evening shift rotation. On call duty also required.

Beaufort County is seeking qualified applicants for the position of County Manager. The county has a population of near 50,000 and is located in the eastern coastal area of North Carolina on the Pamlico River. The County operates under a commission/manager form of government with a seven member board, 318 full time employees and an annual general fund budget of over $54,000,000.

Administration of Beaufort County Government; ensures that the orders, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the Board of County Commissioners are executed. Plans and attends all meetings for the Board of Commissioners, directs and supervises the administration of County offices, departments, boards, commissions, and agencies under the control of the Board of Commissioners; prepares and submits the annual budget and capital programs; prepares a complete report on finances and administrative activities of the County; appoints County officers, employees and agents whose positions are created by law or by action of the Board; prepares and recommends programs and policies for adoption by the Board of Commissioners; and acts as the information resource for County Government both in the office and by contacts with various news media.
